Back In Black
Back in black is back for it's second rendition of 100% Petit Verdot. After a three-year hiatus, this wine is definitely back to impress! Black cherry, black plum, violet, sage and graphite. Truly stunning structure with a profile of vanilla, mocha and caramelized sugar, suggestive of crème brûlée. A must bring on a date night to your favorite Italian restaurant to pair deliciously with osso buco. Will cellar incredibly well for 6-8 years.
Watchtower
Our Watchtower is a beautiful Rhône blend. Paper Street Vineyard is one one of the highest elevations here in Paso with a very rugged terroir leading to fruit with character. Aromas and flavors of cola, licorice, ripe plums, dark currant with graphite-like minerality. Subtle notes of lilac, eucalyptus and fresh ground pepper add depth and interest. Drink now or for the next 7-9 years
Danger Zone Mourvèdre
This vintage of Danger Zone is wonderful example of 100% Mourvedre from Paper Street Vineyard. Notes of bright Morella cherry, candied blue raspberry and rhubarb on the nose. Herbaceous hints of rosemary and thyme with cherry cough drop and sarsaparilla on the palate. Balanced with a finish of white pepper and graphite-like minerality. A perfect BBQ wine, pairs well with a juicy burger, or a Central Coast favorite, Tri Tip. Drink now or over the next 2-10 years.
Stayin' Alive
Merlot is back and stayin' alive! We LOVE the variety and made ours reminiscent of the early California Merlots that really should never have gone out of style. These premier grapes come from an old planting on one acre at 1600' elevation in the Templeton Gap, leading to a structurally beautiful wine with depth. On the nose, vibrant red plum, cooling eucalyptus, with intriguing tobacco leaf and cedar. Rainier cherry, chocolate truffles, bay leaf and Tahitian vanilla dance on the palate.
Go My Way
The inaugural vintage of Go My Way isn’t your traditional Bordeaux blend, that’s for sure! We’re taking the varieties that always take a back seat to Cab and letting them show off what they got... Dark and mysterious, with notes of blackberry, red plum, cacao powder, Madagascar vanilla bean, cedar and Cuban cigar. Full of intrigue, we’re excited to see this wine age and get even better over the next 8-10 years. Pair with a blue cheese burger on a Summer retreat with nothing but pine trees in sight.
Summertime
This 100% Grenache Blanc is sourced from Paper Street Vineyard on the high hills of the Willow Creek District with head-trained vines on pure limestone soil, creating fruit that is beautifully acidic. Beginning with bright notes of Honeycrisp apple, Bosc pear and underripe nectarine with fresh undertones of lemon verbena and Kaffir lime. Elevated with floral notes of jasmine and honey suckle; grounded with a finish of wet river rock minerality. Reminiscent of a nice cold 7-Up on a hot Summer’s day! Drink poolside or out floating on the pontoon. Drink now or forever hold your peace. The perfect warm weather pairing? Spring (or summertime) chicken salad!
Mr. Jones
Grenache is one of our favorites in the Barton Family. This medium-bodied wine with ripe tannin reminds the palate of creamy Macadamia nuts, exotic plum, and saltwater taffy. Remember the last time you had really delicious Chinese food? This is the wine you want to drink! Think Mushu Pork and plum sauce. On the nose, freshly cracked bottle of Coca Cola stimulates the senses. Topped off with hints of Herbs de Provence, cherry liqueur, and freshly ground cinnamon. Enjoy now or within the next 4-6 years.
Simple Man
Our Simple Man is named after the 'salt of the earth' farmers that grow our Zinfandel grapes. This vintage comes from the famed Dante Dusi Vineyard, known for their old vine, dry farmed & head trained Zin which was planted in 1945. Our 2019 Simple Man has aromas of red cherries, red plums, cinnamon, allspice and fresh ground black pepper, with a tobacco-like smoky finish. On the palate, black cherries, black plums, cranberry & cocoa with river rock minerality Looking for the best pairing? Bacon wrapped filet mignon or duck confit! Will age wonderfully for 4-6 years.
Kashmir
A blast from the past! This vintage hails from our Estate Vineyard with Syrah grapes planted by Joe and his dad. Bursts at the seams with pencil lead, gunpowder, granite, asphalt, mineral, rose petal, wild blueberry, fresh black plum, and elderberry tincture. A wonderful texturally driven wine, reminiscent of red velvet. Pairs well with an ugly sweater and a brick fireplace. Delicious now but will peak in 8-10 years.
FANCY Rose of Grenache
Back for its second rendition! You know it’s selling out soon... Get it while you can! These premier Grenache grapes are grown and picked for rosé, harvested at a higher acidity to preserve freshness. Directly pressed to retain the beautiful, delicate, pale salmon color. Understated but decadent aromas bring back memories of a homemade strawberry crisp and nostalgic feelings of a childhood spent enjoying pink Starbursts. Layered with lovely gardenia and fennel pollen on a sunny, breezy day. Drink on your front porch with a fruit and gorgonzola flatbread!
Broken Road
This is a fresh take on a classic Paso Robles variety. Bright apricot and peach notes, pretty florals of honeysuckle, orange blossom and gardenia make this a cult favorite year after year! Refreshing ginger and green apple skin stimulate the palate. Warm cinnamon, brioche and graham cracker on the finish instantly comfort and relax. Perfect wine for brunch day or chill lakeside sipping. Pair with Panzanella salad, Pad Thai or Sushi!
Secret Garden
The Eden Rift Vineyard is located in the Cienega Valley outside of Hollister in San Benito County. The vineyard grows in dolomite soils with moderate temperatures with coastal influence allowing the grapes to ripen slowly and retain fresh acidity. This wine contains aromas of peaches and cream, almond and cantaloupe. On the palate, hints of pencil shavings and vanilla with a finish of nectarine tart. Drink now or for the next 2-4 years.
Tiny Dancer
This varietal is becoming very popular in Paso Robles! The name Picpoul translates to 'lip stinger' as it is known for its bright, vibrant acidity. With notes of fresh lemon, lemongrass & river rock, hints of ginger, raw almonds, and coconuts dance on the palate. This Picpoul is amazing with food! Drink now or over the next 2-4 years.
Purple Rain
The Eden Rift Vineyard is located in the Cienega Valley outside of Hollister is San Benito County. The Vineyard grows in dolomite soils with moderate temps with coastal influence allowing the grapes to ripen slowly and retain fresh acidity. Graphite, chicory root, sarsaparilla, cardamom, currant, ripe pomegranate, dried cranberry, orange peel, all spice, pie crust, Pairs with mushroom ragu, pheasant, exotic game bird, Thanksgiving dinner, turkey and cranberry sauce Amazing now and will get better over the next 3-5 years.
The Dance
The Dance is our flagship Cabernet; comprised of the best barrels in our cellar. This vintage features our Barton Estate Vineyard, a nod to the legacy that began with Joe Sr. back in 1994. This wine begins with delicious notes of black plum, toasted macadamia, cedar & raw almond, followed by huckleberry, violets, mocha, sweet tar & pencil lead on the palate, with hints of allspice, curry powder and green notes of oregano, tomato leaf and purple basil. Pair with a special occasion or a nice evening at home by the fireplace with your loved ones. Drink now over the next 20 years.
Hot Blooded
Its not often you see this varietal as the star of the show, and we believe it deserves center stage. Our Hot Blooded is a light ruby color with fresh cranberry, ocean spray & orange peel on the nose. Plums, bing cherries, nutmeg, baking spice, & tea rose dance on the palate. Enjoy with a delicate Italian seafood pasta or duck ragu. This is the red wine you’ll want to drink when it’s 103 degrees out…check it and see. Drink now or over the next 2-4 years.
Soul Mate
Share this with your soul mate, or close friends and loved ones. The memories you create will pair nicely with this tasty, fruity, Paso wine. Delicious olallieberry, boysenberry and raspberry preserves, with subtle undertones of thyme and black licorice. Elevated notes of Tahitian vanilla and cardamom. Holiday
Pretty and delicate notes of white tea, white pear and untoasted almond on the nose. Bright and vibrant lemon custard, under ripe pineapple and kefir lime. On the finish, subtle cardamom and ground ginger warm and stimulate the palate. Reminiscent of a freshly opened bag of sour gummy worms! This is a perfect Fall white wine; a must for the first cold night of Autumn for fireside sipping or to pair with a Thanksgiving holiday spend making memories with the family.
DON'T STOP BELIEVING Picpoul Blanc
This variety has become very popular in Paso Robles and is very popular on hot summer days! The name "Picpoul" translates to "lip stinger" as it is known for its bright, vibrant acidity. These grapes come from the Old Oak Vineyard in the Willow Creek District and are head-trained and dry-farmed. Aromas and flavors of jasmine and green tea. Hints of dried thyme and orange blossom dance on the palate, finishing with a ocean spray salinity. A pretty texture reminiscent of fresh rain water. Pair with a seaside beach view shucking oysters with your partner in crime.
BITTERSWEET SYMPHONY Aperitif
Best served on the rocks before dinner as an aperitif or chilled as a digestive/ dessert wine! Spiced with citrus orange peel, vanillin, all spice, star anise, gentian root, licorice root, walnut bark and ginger root. Reminiscent of a orange creamsicle on a summer's night!
Pet-Nat
This ain’t your Mother’s Champagne, that’s for sure! Made with an Old School method (méthode ancestral) of creating sparking wine, our 2020 Pét-Nat (short for Pétillant Naturel/ natural bubbles) is quite the exciting new release. The Clairette Blanche grape varietal brings in freshness and texture without being too acid driven. Lemon curd, mandarin peel and lemon verbena notes with lingering hints of candied ginger and fresh croissant. Perfect poolside or for any summer celebration! Doesn’t need a meal at all; would recommend sipping all day long on its own. Cheers!
